Wow, I cannot believe it. As of today, Amy has been a Strout for a month. I know people say this all the time, but it really does feel like she has always been here. She and Zoe are getting along REALLY well and she just loves all her big siblings as well. Most of the time she has to give them a hug as they leave.
We had a great week, as we finally got Amy in to see an eye doctor. He confirmed she definitely needed glasses. He said that past 13 inches things got pretty blurry for her. You would think that if your vision was bad, you would be more careful, but not Amy. I do notice that now that she can see, she IS more careful! Yeah! I wish I would have video taped that first time she put those glasses on. She kept saying "Waaaaa" which I think is her way of saying WoW!
***Cool side note: You all know that our adoption has had God's fingerprints all over it, but this week we got to see one more fun miracle. Our Sunday School class threw us a wonderful shower at church 2 weeks ago. They put a box out for anyone who wanted to contribute to Amy's Optometry Fund. When the party was over, I took the box home and was so happy to see $99 in it! We thought it would take a wonderful chunk out of the price of a pair of glasses for Amy. Well, would you believe that EyeMasters was having a kids glasses sale and we got 2 pair for $99! Thank you class - and Thank you God!!!!!
Amy is learning English at light speed. We had to start school because she needs activity and is such a "sponge". Wednesday night on the way home from church, she counted to 60 in English. I am thankful for the school she had in China because I know that learning has been easier because she can compare what she knows to what she is learning.
We had a medical checkup, the test results are good but we still need to do one more immunization. I am not looking forward to it, as she still asks me everywhere we go if she has to have a shot...the bank, the DMV, the eye doctor, Daddy's work. Yikes!
Zoe gave Amy her CD player this week with a Veggie Tales Sunday School songs CD in it. She has been singing with it, at the top of her lungs for the past 3 days. It's a riot! My mom and dad almost get emotional hearing her sing, "My God is so BIG, so strong and so mighty there's nothing my God cannot do.!" (Of course, the words come out different and she has no idea what she is singing, but it is sweet none the less.)
Boy, are my girls different. As most of you know, Zoe is a nature lover. She loves to dig in the dirt and inspect bugs and usually has on shorts and a t-shirt. Amy loves to dig in the dirt too, but she has on a dress, tights and stick-on earrings! I took her to a consignment sale recently. She wanted all the fanciest dresses. The more crenlin the better. Zoe says she hates those - they itch! Their personalities are really different. Zoe is a talker and thinker. Amy is a doer. I am so blessed, because like my boys there is no need to compare them because they are so different!
Thank you all for your prayers,
We continue to be wonderfully blessed!
